Jarle began his career in cooking at 16, working at Olyos pizza for several years, and found he had a deep curiosity and excitement for cooking. After high school, he moved to Florida to work in the private yachting industry where he found a broader interest in the culinary arts. In 2008 he moved back to San Diego with the intention of progressing his culinary career working for some of San Diego’s top restaurants. He opened Union kitchen and tap under chef Jason Gethin and spent some time working at Rancho Valencia resort in Rancho Santa Fe. He then traveled learning from some of the best chefs in the country to come full circle back to Leucadia.

After a failed attempt with a brick-and-mortar due to the COVID pandemic, he gathered what resources he could and combined forces with the new owners of the Leucadian Dave Shapiro and Michael Chopp to launch a humble version of what he intends to expand on in the near future. Combining his love for internationally inspired barbecue, he and his partner John Ford give their whimsical take on international street food in an elevated bar setting seated behind the long-established Leucadian bar.
