We are so excited to welcome Leucadia Rocks to the Leucadia 101 Mainstreet Association!

"Even as a child, I was mesmerized by sparkly accessories, and I have been making jewelry for myself and my friends since I was a teenager. In 2003, I enrolled at the Gemological Institute of America in San Diego, where I received my Graduate Jeweler certificate. After years of honing my bench skills in fine jewelry stores, I decided to launch my own business so I could focus on my passion, designing and creating jewelry one piece at a time.
My specialty is custom-designed, handmade jewelry in silver, gold or platinum. If you have a vision of your perfect piece of jewelry, I can make it real — an adornment designed for you alone, but likely to be appreciated for generations to come. Or maybe you have a family stone in a setting that doesn’t match your taste; I can help develop an updated design that shows off your legacy gems in a setting appropriate to your lifestyle. I look forward to collaborating with you to make your dream design come true. - Megan Alice"

- Where are you from?
I moved to Leucadia in 2002 to attend G.I.A. (The Gemological Institute of America) in Carlsbad. I choose Leucadia because I fell in love and it was a sweet motorcycle ride on the way to school every morning on the coast.
- What are a couple of your favorite things to do in Leucadia?
My favorite things to do in Leucadia include going to beacons (fingers crossed it is opening back up tomorrow) riding bikes (in alleys or on Neptune because 101 is scary for bicycles always!!!!) Le Papagyo for live music and great cocktails and happy hour followed by a game of pool at O’Hurleys.

- When and Where did you learn how to metalsmith?
I did a lot of enamels in high school and college and always loved working in metal. I took a silversmith class at a community college and decided that was what I was going to pursue.
- Do you have a personal favorite to work with between silver and gold?
I love working with all metals. 18k gold is my favorite today but love them all.
- How has the pandemic affected you?
The pandemic affected me like most local businesses.

- What types of jewelry do you work on?
I work on all kinds of jewelry, from costume pieces to million dollar rings.
- How do you begin the process of making a custom piece?
For custom pieces, I collaborate with the customer and put a Megan Alice spin on it. I love doing custom. It is my absolute favorite to create a piece of jewelry that will be passed down. Jewelry might be restyled but doesn’t get bulldozed down or thrown away.
- Any advice to someone interested in metalsmithing?
My advice for anyone interested in metal smith is practice every second you have available and don’t give up.

- Top 5 favorite songs at the moment?
